Irish Music and Stories

Event Rating:
Stefan Grasse and Jane McDaniel
Join master classical guitarist, Stefan Grasse, and four-time US National Champion in Irish Storytelling, Jane McDaniel, for an evening of old and new Celtic music and stories on Friday, February 26 at 7 pm in Encino Park. Blending age-old stories with traditional Celtic music and new compositions these Irish cousins will take you to that magical place called Ireland, and to the edge of Tir na nOg, the Land of Eternal Youth where story and music have reigned for five thousand years. Listen at http://www.cdbaby.com/Search/c3RlZmFuIGdyYXNzZQ%3d%3d/0.

Grasse studied music at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland and with Pepe Romero at the International Summer School in Salzburg, Austria. With more than 1,900 concerts and multiple awards Stefan Grasse has built up a national and international reputation for innovative musicianship. Acclaimed as as precise and virtuosic guitarist, Grasse’s interpretations are “fun as well as being technical on the highest level …. it is a musical feast!” (H. Reining, Gitarre Aktuell) .

Jane McDaniel hails from Limerick, Ireland and now lives part of the year on Achill Island, Co. Mayo. She grew up in a storytelling family where regular storytelling sessions were a weekly event. She tells a wide spectrum of stories from the old Celtic traditions, stories of magic, of love lived and love lost, but revels also in the rollicking tales of Irish country folk. The Press has described her as “telling stories of love and murder and suicide with equal relish” (U. Steinleitner, Passer Nachrichten).
