The most successful film at the box office in 1954, White Christmas stars Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney, and Danny Kaye. The story follows two former U.S. Army soldiers who have since made it big on Broadway, and who enlist the help of their friends in show business to save their beloved Army General’s Vermont lodge from closing. Irving Berlin provided the music and lyrics for the film’s soundtrack, and he was nominated for the Best Song Academy Award for “White Christmas.” He previously won for the same song when it first appeared in 1942’s Holiday Inn.
